Meet up & Start Walking Tour

Today we will be visiting highlights of Quito centre.

Begin your tour at 10:00 AM OR at 14:00 PM from our office at the base of La Basilica Church.

Note: The tour is on foot. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The historic centre has uneven cobblestone streets.

Colonial Churches & Museum Visit

We start with two of Quito’s most famous churches. The Basilica del Voto Nacional is one of the largest neo-Gothic churches in the Americas. La Compañía de Jesús is known for its gold-covered interior, one of the most ornate in South America.

We also visit the Camilo Egas Museum, dedicated to one of Ecuador’s most important 20th-century painters.

Presidential Palace & Plaza Grande

We walk through Plaza Grande, Quito’s main historic square, surrounded by the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, and City Hall. Your guide will explain the history of the square and the buildings around it.

Church of San Francisco & Plaza San Francisco

We visit the Church of San Francisco, one of the oldest churches in South America, built in the 16th century. The large square in front of it is a good place to watch local daily life.

Metropolitan Cultural Center

A stop at this large cultural space housed in a historic building. It hosts art exhibitions, theatre, and other events.

Culinary Delights & Local Flavors

We finish with a tasting of traditional Ecuadorian foods: local sweets, a selection of liquors, and chocolate made from Ecuadorian cacao.
