Antisana Bike Tour

“Ride along glacial rivers and past ancient lava flows—this is Antisana up close.”

Start and Pick Up

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Quito and drive towards the town of Pintag, located on the slopes of the Antisana volcano.

Views & Wildlife of the Páramo

Once we reach the Antisanilla quarries, we’ll head up to the high plains of the páramo at about 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). Take some time to walk around, enjoy the views, and look for local wildlife.

Trekking Around La Mica Lagoon

From there, we descend 4 km (2.5 miles) to the beautiful La Mica Lagoon, formed by glacier melt from the volcano.

After reaching the lagoon, we’ll stop for a scenic trek around La Mica, where you’ll get to see the unique Andean flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including deer, condors, and curiquingues.

Start Antisana Bike Trail

We’ll return to the car, gear up, and start the bike ride along the same route we arrived on.

The first stretch includes a 4 km (2.5 miles) gentle uphill climb back to the plains of the páramo, followed by a couple of small descents and climbs as we make our way toward the summit.

The Big Summit Descent

From the summit, you’ll enjoy a thrilling 20 km (12 miles) downhill ride.

You’ll pass by open plains, and if you’re lucky, spot deer, condors, and even a bear or two in their natural habitat. The downhill stretch offers beautiful views of the high-altitude páramo.

Ecuadorian (Box)Lunch

We can either enjoy a box lunch along the drive, or stop for lunch at a local restaurant. You can enjoy Ecuadorian food and have time some to rest.

If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please let us know in advance. We will be happy to accommodate you.

Return and Drop off

After the ride, we’ll pack up the bikes and drive back to Quito. If time permits, you might even get the chance to explore a bit more of the surrounding area before heading back.
