“From gold-leaf churches to local vendors, this is Quito up close.”

Meet up & Start Walking Tour

Today we will be visiting highlights of Quito Center.

Begin your tour at 10:00 AM OR at 14:00 PM from our office at the base of La Basilica Church. Note that this tour is both in English and Spanish.

Historical Buildings & Architecture

We start by visiting Quito’s beautiful colonial churches. See the detailed architecture of famous landmarks like the Basilica del Voto Nacional and La Compañía de Jesús.

Then, discover Ecuadorian art at the Camilo Egas Museum. This museum honors one of Ecuador’s most important artists and shows his work highlighting the country’s culture and history.

Historical Walk & Urban Landmarks

Continue your journey through Quito’s history with visits to important landmarks like the Presidential Palace (Carondelet Palace) and the Church of San Francisco.

Walk through the heart of the city in Plaza Grande and Plaza San Francisco. These lively squares are full of history, local life, and surrounded by beautiful colonial buildings.

Independence & Culture

At Independence Square, visit the Monument of Independence and learn about Ecuador’s fight for freedom from Spanish rule.

Then, explore the Metropolitan Cultural Center—a lively place for art, history, and culture. Enjoy its exhibitions, performances, and other cultural activities.

Culinary Delights & Local Flavors

Start with a tasting of traditional Ecuadorian sweets, perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

Then, try a selection of local liquors and learn about their unique flavors during a guided tasting.

End your food journey with Ecuadorian chocolate. The country is famous for its fine cacao, offering a rich variety of chocolates from dark to milk.
