Our itinerary

Quilotoa Day Tour

“From the crater’s edge to the turquoise lake below, Quilotoa is yours to explore today.”

Start and Pick Up

Today we will be visiting Quilotoa Crater Lake.

There are two pick up points for the Quilotoa day tour:

  1. 07:00 AM – Plaza Foch in front of Juan Valdez Café.
  2. 07:15 AM – Plaza San Blas from Café Zular.

Please look for a white tour bus. The guide will be there with a list of names to check you in.

We recommend taking a taxi to and from one of these pick-up/drop-off points.

Visit to Local Market

Start your tour with a visit to a local, indigenous market. Experience Ecuadorian life as we explore stalls with fresh produce and handcrafted goods. You have a chance to buy snacks for the rest of the day.

Note: On Tuesdays this activity is not available.

Local Family & Tigua Community

Continuing on, we will visit a local family in their highland hut and make an extra stop at the community of Tigua.

Hiking Quilotoa Crater Lake

We arrive at the stunning Quilotoa Crater Lake, located at 3,914 meters (12,841 feet). From here, we hike down to the turquoise lake, surrounded by beautiful mountain views.

If you prefer, you can rent a mule for an easier descent or simply stay at the top and enjoy the incredible scenery.

Optional Activities at Quilotoa

Enjoy some free time at Laguna Quilotoa for various activities. You can go kayaking on the calm waters or relax by the lakeside, taking in the amazing scenery.

Visit Toachi Canyon

We finish the day with a visit to Toachi Canyon, a deep and beautiful canyon in the mountains. Take some time to enjoy the views and see this unique natural place.

Ecuadorian Lunch

We stop for lunch (included) at a local restaurant. You can enjoy Ecuadorian food and have time some to rest.

If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please let us know in advance. We will be happy to accommodate you.

Return and Drop off

We will begin our return journey to Quito.

If you’re heading to another destination, we can drop you off along the way for public transport, or help arrange a private transfer (additional cost).

For those returning to Quito, we will arrive between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Drop-off will be at the same locations as the pick-up points.
